For all my readers in the US, I’m delighted to tell you that Penguin will soon be publishing this book, but under a different title. The Two Lives of Miss Charlotte Merryweather is going to be out in the Spring. It’s the same story, though it’s been slightly rejigged to make Charlotte an American who moves to London when she’s twenty-one. I have to say the book lends itself really well to this new version, and is even better than the original (well, maybe not better, but definitely just as good) so hopefully my readers on the other side of the Atlantic will enjoy it just as much as my readers in the UK and the rest of Europe. Other big news is the publication of my fourth book, Do You Come Here Often? which is being republished in February in the UK. I’m delighted as it’s one of my all-time favourite books featuring some of my best-loved characters: Grace, Jimi, Maggie, Sonny, Rhian and Clive, and is all about being single, finding love, and how it can all get very, very complicated. If you haven’t read it already, please check out it. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do. I’ve also just written a short story for BBC Radio 4. It’s A Guy Thing is about two friends, Sebastian and Adam, and what happens when one of them falls in love with a girl in a café and posts a Missed Connections Ad. It’s going to be broadcast on Wednesday January 27th at 15.30pm on BBC Radio 4, so please tune in! And finally – drum roll please – my new book is finally finished! Yay! After writing solidly for months and months and months I finally typed ‘The End’ and sent it off to my editor with all my fingers and toes crossed. I let out a huge sigh of relief when she emailed me a few days later to tell me that she loved it and thought it was my best book yet! It’s now got a new title, You’re The One That I Don’t Want, and is going to be published in the UK this August and a year later in the US. This is my eighth book, and it follows the story of Lucy who meets Nate in Italy when she’s eighteen. It’s love at first sight, and as far as she’s concerned, he’s her soulmate. Caught up in the whirlwind of first love, they kiss under the Bridge of Sighs and – according to local legend – are tied together for eternity. But when the summer is over Nate returns to America and Lucy returns to the UK and it all becomes a distant memory… But ten years later fate brings them back together again. And again. And again. Only it doesn’t seem as wonderful as it had before. But if Nate’s not The One – then why on earth is it proving so hard to break up with him? Until next time, thanks for visiting. Come back soon! return to top |
